About Me

The insights I share in my work emerged from hard-won experience, a many-year long ordeal which amounted to a shamanic descent into the depths of the individual and collective unconscious psyche.

In 1981, following an intense personal trauma, I experienced a life-changing spiritual awakening in which I began to recognize the dreamlike nature of reality. During the first year of this spiritual emergence, I was hospitalized a number of times, and was told I was having a severe psychotic break from reality.

I was (mis)diagnosed as having a chemical imbalance and was informed that I had what was then called “manic depression” (now known as bipolar disorder), and that I would have to live with this illness for the rest of my life, requiring medication till my dying breath.

Little did the doctors realize, however, that I was taking part in a mystical awakening/shamanic initiation process, which at times mimicked psychosis but in actuality was a spiritual experience of a far different order, completely off the map of the psychiatric system.

Fortunately, I was able to extricate myself from the medical and psychiatric establishment so that I could continue my process of self-discovery. And I found spiritual teachers who, instead of seeing me as “crazy,” recognized that I was beginning to spiritually awaken.

Today, it’s my great honor to serve—in C.G. Jung’s parlance—in the role of a “wounded healer,” helping others to awaken to the dreamlike nature of reality. My primary areas of inquiry include wetiko, quantum physics, dreaming, and C.G. Jung’s work on the psyche. The medicine I’m offering has everything to do with connecting with the creative spirit that is our true nature. I very much hope you’ll join me here.

Keep dreaming lucidly,

Paul
