I enjoyed Bonfire of the Vanities. Oh, I think that going at the perceived "demon" in others is a valid communication and done by choice. I think it's part of accepting our own daemonic to perhaps see a person who "looks like the Devil" and have a go at those aspects of that person and draw it out and wonder how "we" will respond to that . However, I have been seriously injured several times in doing this. I'm not sure there was benefit but perhaps in the long term. Maybe too threatening but it wasn't intended to be destructive and I cannot really see that "making contact" is a negative.

I've read your book, Dispelling Wetiko, and very much enjoyed it. Like those who have also solicited your advice, I'm and interested in starting an awakening in the dream group here in Galveston, Texas.

I think this information will be very valuable in my community.

Thank you in advance for any advice you can give.

Yours truly,

I am so deeply interested in your article. I wrote one on my website a while ago on the same topic: http://liberatingemotions.com/?p=257
What you wrote is so true and evident once people's lives are looked at more deeply. I do that in the Emotion Code sessions I do when I tap into the client's subconscious and through muscle testing find out what personal and/or ancestral emotions are at the root of their problem/trauma/discomfort.
The more I do sessions, the more it has become clear to me that we are the product of our ancestors and that their pain and unresolved issues have become ours, like it or not.
This is real and hopefully with articles like yours will be more known and understood in our society that too many times is too superficial. We have to have the courage to dig more deeply for answers and this is exactly what you have done.

I have long considered the idea that all events are synchronistic, some profound, others less so. The idea of past, present, and future are artifacts of mind. There is only "now". Causality has a similar nature; a function of mind rather than "reality". My graduate advisor infected me with a fascination with Chaos Theory. Though the nomenclature has changed, I prefer the original term. Chaos is not "chaotic", rather it is a higher order, a form of order too "complex" for the mind to grasp directly. It's from Chaos that causality flows, while the mind attempts derive cause from Newtonian "order". This paradigm works more or less well until it fails, causing confusion, denial, and rarely, progress. Of course, I could be wrong, I'm quite good at that.

Hi Paul,
Thanks for sharing this moment in time and out of time. Your full awareness shining on this brings out beautiful shaped patterns, normally evading our casual glances. I remember the time I became self conscious. I was concerned what my best friends parent thought of me. That I was too wild etc. What happened was my pattern of breathing changed. I'd never thought of it before, now suddenly, I was concerned about my breathing. Was it too shallow? Why do I feel so uncomfortable with my breathing? I felt a power slip away from me. Instead of creating, I fell into reacting. A bit of joy left me that day. Though it came crashing back years later, all due to dreaming.

A sincere thank you for the lucidity you facilitate! I whole-heartedly appreciate your description of people as ‘artists’. Indeed, we are both creators of as well as creative elements on the canvas that is our own lifedream.

As an ‘artist’ on a more localized level, a few years ago I discovered (or rather, ‘had no option but to accept’. Ha!) that I was actually illustrating Other people’s lifedreams through the drawings I was doing. They’re immeasurably helpful for illustrating what’s in your unconscious so that it can be integrated. With an appreciation of the healings they activate, I use them as a shamanic tool and assist others in utilizing the practice themselves. Whatever you can do in the interest of uplifting the world, I say!

Besides whatever else is brought to conscious awareness, sometimes elements that you’d describe as ‘demons’ show up in someone’s illustration as well. As much as they’re an element that can cause people considerable consternation, my understanding is that – on a soul-level – Nothing happens without our permission. Our darkness /shadows are indeed something we’ve 'enlisted'. I can’t stress enough how essential they are in helping us to realize our own Divine natures. Ultimately, what’s hidden in our shadows is never what our fears would have us believe (think ‘birthday cake’, rather than ‘scary monster’).

Although I describe myself that way, I’d like to say, though, that it doesn’t require identification of yourself as a person having psychic abilities to reveal what otherwise appears hidden from conscious awareness. As you offer with such clarity, while life is the medium, “the artist is a force of nature”. For the most part, it's not that I receive information and impose that upon the drawings, so much as the drawings appear within the prepared surface and contain pretty much everything that's meant to be communicated. Additional messages do inevitably come in, but it's more that it works the other way 'round, if that makes sense. To all intents and purposes, it’s our physical Universe that does all the work! The challenge is in trusting that imagery that can seem to be incredibly nonsensical can actually be immeasurably relevant. I'm always amazed at how Miraculous it is that, even as the fibres on the tree were growing or there were subtle differentiations created in the paper as it was being pressed, an infinite number of Divinely coordinated elements comes together to influence what appears in any given drawing – a “synergistic convergence” indeed. As intimately connected as we all are, everyone is a channel, whether they’re presently conscious of it or not.

Hello Paul,

I was astonished when had heard you speak on Clyde Lewis's "Ground Zero" a few weeks ago for the first time and was about falling out of my seat hearing you discuss of the collective psychosis particularly spilling out of this country and all over the globe!

I have for years on my own been studying the culture, philosophies and esoteric spirituality of the far East and more recently Western archetypal psychology of Carl Jung through the work of Joseph Campbell and Caroline Myss. At this moment I am about half way through your book Dispelling Wetiko and I am amazed by your sheer brilliance of how you thoroughly and alchemically elucidate and piece together this diverse knowledge. I am currently living in Portland and would be greatly honored to sometime participate in your Awakening in the Dream group. I am a writer/illustrator/sculptor currently working on my own graphic novel project.

Thanks so much for your work! It's helping me to transform the areas in my psyche I was before unable to reach. Your profound explanations are helping me understand and to extricate things in me I just didn't have the internal ability to explain in words for myself. Reading your work has shone the light in the darker areas in myself that has needed it.

Very grateful,

Always remember that even the daemonic/predator/incubator force came from your will at some point. Otherwise there can be a negative backlash of giving this principle even more power, and this partial understanding can damage your path.

The challenger is an ally as it helps you to find yourself by limiting and defining you. Then you say "I am not that!", "This is not all that I am!", "there must be something else!" etc. Your inner self is not trapped by this daemon, but you appear to be in this incarnated perspective. It is by challenge that we find truth.

Yep, I had some talk therapy in the 90's and it was very helpful to me. The first thing I said to my therapist was that I want you to listen and I do not want to be "shut up" and I do not want to be abused and negated here, too. Recently after feeling suicidal after traumatic emotional abuse and lies and manipulations of family, employers and the court I didn't even think to say that. So, you got it the second session was filled with negative labellings of my behavior and personality and what was wrong with me. The conflicts before therapy had centered around dis-empowering and therapy was taking the same path. I walked out. That was Fun! Ajna remarks
